Rosemary Neri-Calheiros

Rosemary obtained her Classical Training at the Teatro Municipal in Rio de Janeiro and her Jazz Dance and Modern Dance Training in New York with Alvin Ayley, Steps on Broadway and at the Broadway Dance Center. From 1991 on, she had a very successful career at the Nationaltheater Mannheim, first as a solo dancer, later as a choreographer for the Opera, Theatre Plays and Children’s Theatre as well as in directing the Movement Choir. Since 2007, she has been living in Berlin where she is working as a dance teacher and choreographer, i.a. in the education projects of the Berliner Philharmoniker.

Her workshops at the Tanzfestival Bielefeld aim at all dance enthusiasts from the age of 50 up. Here, it isn’t important whether the participants have prior dance experiences or not: it is having fun through movement that counts. In this course, the participants learn to consciously perceive and sense their own body.  Within this experience, they can discover entirely new facets of their personality through dance.
