Kingsley Odiaka

Kingsley Odiaka was born in Nigeria and trained in diverse traditional dance styles. He participated in international workshops and studied improvisation techniques with Heddy Maalem, Limón Technique with Risa Steinberg, Modern Dance with Kenji Takagi and Contemporary Dance with Iñaki Azpillaga and Peter Jasko. He works as a dancer and choreographer as well as production manager and event organizer. As a cooperation with the Nigerian Wakajoo Dance Company, he created “ARUGBA – The Bearer” in 2011. His solo „iALONE“, created in 2010, was presented i.a. at the tanzhaus nrw in June 2012. At the moment, he is in the process of creating the dance piece „Echoes“ with the Kingsley Odiaka Ensemble.

In his workshop, Kingsley Odiaka will teach a fusion of diverse traditional Nigerian dances. The focus will be on the fun of moving with live music. The workshop is suited for participants with experience in traditional African dances.
