Moussa Coulibaly

African Percussion
Burkina Faso/Germany

Moussa Coulabily descends from a large Griot Family, his father being from Burkina Faso, his mother from Mali. Just like his parents and grandparents, Moussa plays all the traditional instruments masterly, such as Balophon, Ngoni, Doundoun and Talking Drum, adding his expressive voice to their sound. Since 2012, Moussa Coulabily has been working and living in Germany. He plays West African rhythms and improvisations, composes his own pieces and songs and accompanies salsa, reggae and jazz music. In April 2013, his first CD, „NAKA“, was released.

He enjoys very much accompanying workshops and performances of traditional and contemporary African dancers. His own course programme consists of all the traditional West African instruments. Please bring your own drum to the workshop „African Drumming“.
