Yesid Chala Puello

Salsa Movement

Born in Cartagena de Idias, Columbia, Yesid already danced as a child, and later at the Escuela de Bellas Artes de Cartagena (School of Fine Arts). He learned the African-Caribbean dance technique and the Latin-American contemporary dances like salsa, bachata, merengue and cha-cha-cha. He performed, among others, at the Yambalo Dance Company in Bogotá and has taught in Europe on a regular basis since 2006. He won 2nd place at the “Salsa of Primavera” with the dance ensemble Barrio Latino, and 1st place one year later at the IDO SALSA MASTERS.

With his Latin blood, Yesid has got rhythm, which he always strives to convey to his students with passion and love. He perceives the special character in each dance and knows how to consider and feel it. By doing so, he also takes cultural aspects into account. When it comes to salsa, he puts the emphasis on combining relaxation and movement, on fun and contact with the culture. All parts of the body will be involved in this workshop.
